There has been a surge in mobile users and is predicted to increase faster than before. People who were using Microsoft Outlook on desktop prefer the Mobile Outlook app instead of the regular Android mail app or Gmail app, which could be configured with email accounts other than Gmail too.
Here is the step by step process with snapshots, how you can configure your email in Microsoft Outlook mobile app.
Install the Outlook App from Google Play Store, if not installed yet.
Tap on the Home button at the left top which will open the left menu with a Gear/Setting icon at the left bottom.
Tap on the gear icon and you will see the “ADD MAIL ACCOUNT” option at the end of under Mail Account, at the end.
Tap on “ADD MAIL ACCOUNT” and select “Add an email account”
Input your email address here and tap on “CONTINUE“
Select “IMAP” when it asks to choose from IMAP/POP
In the next Window, Input your password, Display Name, and Toggle the “ADVANCED SETTINGS” button
(“Display Name” is the name that is shown as a sender name to the person you send an email.)
In Advance Setting, input the incoming and outgoing mail servers with port number, user name (Your Email ID) and password
Incoming and Outgoing mail server and port number is put together concatenated with colon sign (:).
Incoming Server Example. us2.imap.mailhostbox.com:993
Here “us2.imap.mailhostbox.com” is the incoming mail server and 993 is the port number.
Outgoing Server Example. us2.smtp.mailhostbox.com:587
Here “us2.smtp.mailhostbox.com” is the outgoing mail server and 587 is the port number, in case TLS connect is selected. This could be 465 in the case of an SSL connection.
Mail server detail is provided by your email service provider Here is a list of few popular email service providers example:
Service Provider | Incoming Mail Server | Outgoing Mail Server |
---|---|---|
Gmail | imap.gmail.com | smtp.gmail.com |
Yahoo | imap.mail.yahoo.com | smtp.mail.yahoo.com |
Zoho | imap.zoho.com | smtp.zoho.com |
Rediffmail | imap.rediffmail.com | smtp.rediffmail.com |
Use port 993 for the incoming mail server and 465 (SSL) or 587 (TLS) for the outgoing mail server.
Finally, tap on the check button on the top right.
If everything goes well, it should show your email in the list under Mail Account after processing configuration for a few seconds.
